DRYING METHOD OF PALM OIL EXTRACTION

DRYING METHOD OF PALM OIL EXTRACTION

In our previous post, we discussed extensively on the ways by which palm oil can be extracted from oil palm tree and wet method as the most common process of palm oil extraction.

The dry process is not commonly used, but it’s still a viable option for extracting palm oil. The first step in the dry process is similar to the wet process and it is harvesting; the oil palm fruit is harvested from the tree. However, instead of being crushed, the fruit is dried in the sun or in an oven. This method is called the sun drying method or the Oven drying method. Once the fruit is dried, the palm kernel is removed. The next step is to press the dried fruit to extract the oil. This is done using a screw press or hydraulic press. Finally, the oil is filtered to remove any impurities.

Now, once the palm oil has been refined, it can be further processed to create a variety of products. One of the most common products made from palm oil is cooking oil. From our last post,we talked about how palm oil can be used to make margarine, shortening, and other food products.

In addition, palm oil can be used to make soap, candles, and other household items. Palm oil is also used in the production of biodiesel, which is a renewable fuel source. So, as you can see, there are many different uses for palm oil.

Now,moving further on the advantages and disadvantages of the wet and dry processes for extracting palm oil. The main advantage of the wet process is that it produces a higher yield of oil and It’s also faster and less labor-intensive than the dry process. However, the wet process requires more water and energy, and it produces more waste. The main advantage of the dry process is that it’s less water-intensive and produces less waste.
