Cassava, also known as yuca or manioc is a starchy root crop that’s grown in tropical and subtropical regions around the world. Cassava farming is the cultivation and growing of Cassava crop.

Cassava is a staple food in Nigeria. Almost everybody in Nigeria consume cassava directly or indirectly. It is also one of the most popular farming ventures in Nigeria. It is an important food crop in many countries, and it can also be used to make a variety of products. Cassava grows very well in most parts of West Africa like Nigeria, Cameroon, Senegal, Benin Republic, and Ghana.

Also, cassava flour is majorly used in the production of bread, doughnuts, and other confectioneries. It can also be processed into fufu and ‘garri’; a popular food among many Nigerians.

The cassava root is not only important for the production of food, but its leaves can also be used as a vegetable for soup or as feed for sheep, goats, snails, and cattle.

Once the soil has been prepared, it’s time to plant the cassava cuttings. These cassava cuttings are usually planted in rows, about 30-60 cm apart. The cuttings should be planted about 10-20 cm deep. Also make sure that you’re planting a disease-free cuttings. It’s also important to fertilize the soil after planting the cassava. A good fertilizer for cassava is a mix of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Once the cassava is planted, it will need to be weeded regularly to prevent competition from other plants.
